Snowdon Three Generations
There was a good turnout from the Goole Mountaineering club walk up Snowdon last Sunday. We left a rainy Goole at 7am and the 3 hour drive took us into bright sunshine in Wales.
Parking at the foot of the picturesque mountain railway station at Llanberis, we gathered our 22 strong team together ready for the 4 mile hike to the summit of Mt Snowdon (height of 1085 metres). Three of the party including our youngest ever member, Molly-Jean Roffey took the steam train up to the 800m high station mountain stop. The rest of the team met the train for a team photo and a well deserved rest stop for dinner.
It was a further one hour hike to the summit where the thick fog blocked out the Sun and also hindered the views out to the sea coast. The walk in all from start to finish took 5 hrs with mostly good weather and great views. All 22 members made it back to base safely, but yet some probably needing a new set of legs.
After a sit down and a few cups of tea and hot chocolate all felt back to full strength ready for the long drive home, reaching home at 8pm.
