Henley Royal Regatta

The Goole Mountaineering Club had their annual outing at Windsor this year (2006)

GMC were kindly invited to stay at Victoria Barracks at Windsor castle for three days by the Cold Stream Guards, which was kindly accepted and thanks go out to all who made us on camp feel very welcome.

On the Friday saw a visit to the Henley Royal Regatta where the club was supporting the army rowing team, of which won the competition. The day was extremely hot but the thirst was quenched with plenty of pimms, champagne and the odd pint of lager.

Saturday morning saw a personal tour around Windsor Castle and a behind the scenes inspection of the Queens Guards ready to go on parade.

The afternoon saw a boat trip down the River Thames and a visit to Windsor Races.

On Sunday saw some sight seeing around London before being invited to an exclusive drinks reception at the Hilton Hotel in the Centre of London by a friend of the club. The club members returned back in Goole late Sunday night.
